Local athletes sign letters of intent
JACKSON, Tenn. – Several high school standouts signed their official letters on intent on Wednesday. USJ senior Chase Harris will continue his golf career at the University of Memphis. The Tigers were Harris’ first official college visit. He knew then that this was the school for him. “This day will stand out forever to me. Special for all these people to be here with me,” said Harris. In volleyball, there aren’t many players that can hang with TCA’s Clare Taylor. The Lady Lions senior led her school to five straight appearances in the TSSAA state tournament, which includes this season‘s Class A Runner-Up. “The players were really welcoming, and I feel like I’m going to fit in really good there,” said Taylor. Madison Academic joined in on the big local signing day as well. Senior Dakota Smith will play for UT Martin’s women’s basketball team in the fall. Smith is the third local player to commit to the Lady Skyhawks. “This is one of the biggest West Tennessee recruiting classes that we‘ve ever had, combined with one of the best guards in Alabama, the sky is the limit for this class,” said head coach Kevin McMillan.
