LEXINGTON, Tenn.– First responders say it is time to stock the car with a few extra supplies for winter weather. They recommend making car safety kits that include a flash light, extra batteries and snacks to hold you over for at least six hours. Essentials also include clothing or a blanket to keep you warm, according to Capt. Alan Trice with Southeast K-9 Search and Rescue. Officials say if you find yourself stranded in your car the best thing to do is stay put. Trice recommends calling emergency dispatchers if you are stuck in your vehicle. Trice said building a safety kit should not cost you a fortune. He suggests using items you already have and simply putting them in your car.
