Donation drive for Dream Center kicks off

NORTH JACKSON — George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home is accepting donations through Dec. 22 to benefit the Dream Center. Staff are asking for new or gently used items to be donated during normal business hours Monday though Friday or Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. Heath Williams, the funeral home’s community outreach specialist says the most needed items include baby clothing and infant necessities like formula and diapers, as well as clothing for women and children and cleaning supplies. Williams said this is the third year the funeral home has served as a hub for donations to the organization. “The outreach that they do, the work that they do, I think it’s just very important, and everyone definitely deserves a second chance and everyone needs help from time to time,” Williams said. The Dream Center is known for helping women and families who have fallen on hard times. Williams said the community contributed three vans of items to the Dream Center last year.
