Students work months to remake Wright Brothers plane

UNION CITY, Tenn. — Obion County High School students formally presented their remake of the 1902 Wright Brother’s plane at Discovery Park Saturday. Officials said more than one hundred students spent five months re-creating the plane. Many were from 6 carpentry classes at the school. Discovery Park paid for most of the materials, but the students, led by instructor Joe Graves, constructed the plane piece-by-piece themselves. Students said this was a motivating hands on way to apply what they’ve learned in school. “It inspires me to work harder, and be all I can be because if they believe I can do this and my class could do this, we can do anything,” said Jazmine Boyd, Junior. Students said they’re proud of their working continuing on as part of history in Discovery Park.
