Councilman holds special dinner for area kids

JACKSON, Tenn.- The Boys and Girls Club of Jackson got a special dinner Tuesday night. One city councilman hosted a Christmas dinner for the children at the Boys and Girls Club. Those in attendance had the opportunity to spread holiday cheer and to help build a relationship with the community. Councilman Johnny Dodd told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News he wanted the dinner to help the kids get to know local officials and to understand the importance of local law enforcement. “We are trying to build relationships. We are trying to let the kids know that the police are their friends, police officers are here to protect you, said Dodd. Mayor Jerry Gist, Sheriff John Mehr and Interim Police Chief Julian Wiser were some of the special guest servers for the dinner.
