Drivers: fatal logging truck wreck alerts community

SAVANNAH, Tenn. — The THP has identified the woman killed in a crash with a logging truck as Hollie Templeton, 27, of Savannah who was driving with her daughter on Highway 64 Wednesday evening. Templeton collided into the side of the empty logging truck, killing her and sending her daughter to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in critical condition. “I came up on it just a few minutes after it happened. It looked really bad. I don’t know if she was speeding but I do know the logging truck was in the middle of the road. It just didn’t look good,” resident Glen Compton said. Compton said the incident does not come with much surprise. “This is a very dangerous spot. You always have to watch. These trucks will pull out right in front of you,” Compton explained. Local trucking companies said the area is difficult for their drivers to pull out of, saying there is not enough room to get across all four lanes without having to stop traffic. Koenig Towing company told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News Thursday they are holding the vehicles for the Tennessee Highway Patrol to finish their investigation. In the last update from officials, Templeton’s daughter was listed in critical condition.
