Man faces arson charge in Jackson house fire

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A man police say is responsible for a Jackson house fire was in court Monday. Gregory Arnez Goff is charged with aggravated arson after being identified in a lineup by a witness, police say. A witness says he saw Goff walking toward the East Lafayette Street home carrying a can normally used to carry paint thinner, according to court documents. Jackson fire officials say TBI tests proved an accelerant was used for the fire. Goff is free on $10,000 bond.
