Jackson wreck leads to drug charges for driver

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A man was in court Monday on drug charges stemming from a north Jackson traffic accident. Police responded Saturday to a wreck near Highway 45 Bypass and Oil Well Road, according to an affidavit. While investigating the accident, officers smelled what they believed to be marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, the document states. Police say when they spoke with the driver, Kyle David Cilfton, they obtained a grinder with what appeared to be marijuana residue. When they searched the vehicle, police found a container with six pills that appeared to be Xanax, according to the affidavit. Clifton is charged with simple possession and unlawful drug paraphernalia, the document states.
