Gibson Co. deputies discover possible source of reported explosion

GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn. — The Gibson County Sheriff’s Department said they have found the source of a possible explosion Monday night in north Gibson County. Gibson County Sheriff Paul Thomas told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News people who live in areas near Dyer, Rutherford and Yorkville reported hearing what sounded like a large “boom” just after 8:30 p.m. The sheriff said they discovered someone had filled an old, empty refrigerator in an open field just off New Hope Road in Dyer with Tannerite, an exploding rifle target.The sheriff said when the refrigerator was shot into, it exploded. Thomas said there were no injuries and the incident is under investigation.
