Walmart employee accused of bagging unchecked items for friends

JACKSON, Tenn. — A woman was in court Wednesday on accusations of bagging merchandise she had not scanned while working as a cashier at Walmart. Melissa Joe Clark is charged with theft after police say they were contacted by a loss prevention officer at Walmart Supercenter on South Highland Avenue, according to an affidavit. The loss prevention officer told police Clark had bagged items that had not been scanned while checking out customers she knew so their bill would be less, the document states. Clark is charged with theft of property over $500. She is free on a $2,500 bond.
