JACKSON, Tenn. — A fatal crash early Saturday morning leaves nearly a hundred people with no electricity for hours. Police said they responded to the corner of North Parkway and Sweet Bay Drive for a reported single vehicle crash. “I heard a big loud boom and the next thing you know my house is all dark,” said one resident who didn’t want to be identified. Police said the driver was transported to the hospital where they were pronounced dead shortly after. Police said the accident is still under investigation. “Its so sad. I will pray for them and their family. Its a horrible thing to happen,” Alice Golden said. Residents said some of their were without power for up to eight hours. “I have two kids and you know it was freezing. We had to bundle up and stack on layers just to keep from freezing,” Don Veto said. Veto said the area is prone to accidents. He said an accident occurs there at least once a year. “It is such a sharp turn. You can’t see it sometimes and that’s why people get into bad wrecks,” Veto said. The name of the driver will not be released until family is notified.
