Man charged in auto theft blames drug relapse

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A Jackson man blames a relapse on crack after his arrest on a count of stealing a woman’s Jeep. James Tate Jr. was charged Monday with theft over $1,000. According to court papers, Tate stole a woman’s Jeep last month, which she was able to retrieve. Officers say when they arrested Tate he had a set of spare keys. His bond was set at $20,000.
