DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A man appeared in Jackson court Thursday on charges of stealing an air compressor from a baseball field at North Side High School. Stephen Wayne Grace was identified in the theft after a witness got a license plate number after seeing two white men allegedly steal the compressor on Aug. 10, according to an affidavit. Police say Grace admitted to taking the compressor at the request of a second suspect. Grace allegedly knew where the compressor was because he sold it to someone who did not know it was stolen, according to the affidavit. Grace is charged with theft of property under $500. He is free on a $5,000 bond.
