JACKSON, Tenn. — As of Tuesday, the official start to tax season, you can officially file your 2014 federal tax return. It’s about two weeks earlier than last year’s start date. Local tax preparers urge you not to wait until the last minute to file, but at the same time not to file too early. “Employees, institutions, government — they have until I believe Feb. 1 this year to get things posted and marked and mailed out, so allow some time to get everything you need,” tax preparer Deborah Tyler said. The IRS says if you file your tax returns electronically you can expect to have your returns back in about 21 days.
