JACKSON, Tenn. — Members of the Jackson-Madison County School Board were honored Thursday as part of School Board Appreciation Week. Students from Jackson Central-Merry High School welcomed board members with songs from their choir and a skit from the drama club. They finished the event with lunch. The school says it’s a token of appreciation for the hard work school board members give back to the system. “We wanted to express some gratitude from a human aspect instead of just giving out a plaque,” JCM Principal Dr. Charles Clarke said. “So the students wanted to do something, so that’s why everything was student centered.” Gov. Bill Haslam has declared this week as School Board Appreciation week across Tennessee.
