JACKSON, Tenn. – Haywood has found their new head football coach. Liberty Tech’s Steve Hookfin is new leader of the Tomcats. “After an extensive search with many outstanding candidates, coach Hookfin was selected to take the Tomcats in a new direction,” said Superintendent Teresa Russell in the school news release. “His extensive resume and most recent success at Liberty High School in Jackson, makes Hookfin the perfect candidate for Haywood High School.” Hookfin replaces Ernie Jackson, who was dismissed after two years in Brownsville. Haywood finished 4-6 in 2014. “Coach Hookfin has a passion for coaching and mentoring young men. That, coupled with a great work ethic, will definitely contribute to the future success of our program,” said Russell. JMCSS Marketing and Public Relations Specialist Ginger Carver told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News that a head coaching job posting for Liberty has been posted. The 8-3 Crusaders reached the first round of 4A playoffs in 2014.
