JACKSON, Tenn. — United Way of West Tennessee now offers a new phone service. The new service is called 211 and is intended to be the go-to resource for residents of the area who are looking for help. Dubbed a one-stop referral service, residents that dial 211 can talk to a specialist about getting help with basic needs, help getting a job or chances to volunteer. The service is free. “Just call to 211 or refer someone to 211 and let trained individuals and our services to answer their questions for them and get them the help they need,” United Way President and CEO Eddie Herndon said. Anyone can call the 211 line for help from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays.
