JACKSON, Tenn. — We are two months into 2015, but it is just the beginning for the Chinese New Year. The Chinese lunar new year fell on Feb. 19, but due to the recent winter weather, many people celebrated Monday. Families of adopted children from Asia joined for their annual celebration at a local restaurant. As dozens of families participated in the festivities, some parents said this event helps them celebrate their children’s heritage. “It’s a wonderful experience, giving any child a home. It’s a blessing,” said parent Joseph Gill. “A lot of people tell us we won the lottery or the kids won, but my wife and I believe we won the lottery.” 2015 is the Year of the Goat, according to the Chinese 12-year animal Zodiac cycle.
