MILAN, Tenn. — A house in Milan was seriously damaged shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday after flames spread through the home on South First Street. Firefighters say the woman who lives there wasn’t home when the fire started. They say it took 15 minutes to put out the flames. The Milan fire chief estimates 20 percent of the home was damaged. “We got the call saying that there was smoke coming from the residence from the roof,” said Chief Steven Dillard of the Milan Fire Department. “We arrived on the scene to find that smoke was coming from the roof of the residence. We made a primary search. No one was found.” Dillard says the cause is under investigation but at this point they do not consider it suspicious.
