Fla. man charged with 2nd-degree murder in W.Va. wreck
BECKLEY, W.Va. (AP) – An Orlando, Florida, man has been charged with second-degree murder after police said he drove the wrong way on the West Virginia turnpike and crashed into another vehicle, killing the driver.
Media reports state 43-year-old Rafael Herrera was arrested and charged after he was released from the hospital.
State police say Herrera was at the wheel of an SUV on Sunday when he pulled off the higher near a toll booth in Raleigh County. The SUV then returned to the highway going north in a southbound lane.
Herrera’s vehicle hit a car driven by Lisa McCormick of Knoxville, Tenn., head-on. McCormick was killed and three children in the car were injured.
