JACKSON, Tenn. — Lane College presented a symposium on civil rights Wednesday evening. It was held in the Cyber Cafe on the school’s campus. “Voting, protests, Michael Brown and Ferguson” was the theme of conversation. Organizers said it is young people who can make the difference in the future of civil rights in America. “We’re trying to educate and we’re trying to motivate and we’re trying to make sure these young people get engaged,” said Jerryl Christmas, a civil rights attorney. “Any movements that have gone on in this country has been done by young people in this country.” The conversation also featured youth activist Rasheen Aldridge.
