Man charged in boot thefts from Jackson store

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A man police say stole two pairs of boots from a Jackson retailer appeared Wednesday in court. Johnny Bernard McCarter was identified as a suspect in the thefts from R&J Feed Supply in south Jackson after images from security video were aired on WBBJ, according to court documents. McCarter is charged with theft under $500 after. An employee at the store reported one of the boot thefts Feb. 21, and employees identified the man in security video as the same person who took a pair of boots Feb. 19, the affidavit states. McCarter is being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
