Police seek leads in alleged Jackson contractor scam

JACKSON, Tenn. — Police are investigating a contractor accused of scamming elderly people by offering to do work at their homes. Officers say the contractor, described as a middle-aged white man with short hair and a medium build, offers to perform general labor on homes a property. On one occasion, the contractor agreed to cut a tree limb for $100, according to a release from the Jackson Police Department. After finishing the job, the contractor told the victim the limb had damaged the roof and that he would repair the damage for another $100. The man allegedly then told the victim to pay him $9,000. The contractor was last seen driving a red truck and traveling with a young man who could be his son, the release states.
