BROWNSVILLE, Tenn. — The victim of a brutal assault said the burglar targeted his home for drugs and money. Roy Faught said he was awakened from a nap last Thursday morning by a burglar’s barrage of punches to his chest. He said the suspect handcuffed him and threatened him with a knife. The beating lasted more than 30 minutes, after which Faught was flown via medical helicopter to Regional One in Memphis. “I kept thinking, ‘I’m not going to die this morning. You might be planning that, but I’m not,'” Faught said. “So I just tried to hang in there.” Faught said he eventually told the thief where they kept the family safe. He says the thief took the safe and ran down the street with the stolen goods. Faught said he has been in the hospital for about a week with facial fractures, broken ribs and cuts to his liver and intestines. His mother, Helen Faught, suffered minor injuries while she tried to defend her son. She says she is glad to have him home. “I just prayed he would be strong enough to undergo it,” Helen Faught said. Faught described his assailant as a white man between 200 and 270 pounds and between five feet eight inches tall and five feet ten inches tall. If you have any information that could help police, call Brownsville Crime Stoppers at 731-772-CASH (2274).
