JACKSON, Tenn. — Good Friday is celebrated by Christians all over the world. The holiday occurs two days before Easter Sunday in the United States. It is the day when Christians commemorate Jesus Christ’s crucifixion. A local pastor explains why we call the day Good Friday. “Good Friday of all days we should thank the Lord for willing, to be willing to die upon the cross,” said Dr. Jerry Barker, pastoral care minister at Englewood Baptist Church. “He had a choice, and he chose to go to pay for our sins.”
