DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A man was in Jackson court Monday on allegations of robbing another man at gunpoint during a drug deal in a supermarket parking lot. Martel Thomas Majors is charged with criminal attempt to commit aggravated robbery after allegedly threatening a man with a handgun and demanding money after the man met Majors to buy drugs, according to an affidavit. Court documents say the alleged victim met Majors outside Kroger on North Parkway to buy drugs from him. The man told police he got into Majors’ vehicle, and when Majors reached into the back seat to get what the man though would be the drugs, Majors instead pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the man, threatening him and demanding money. The man then grabbed the gun and struggled to take it from Majors, the document states. The gun fell in the back seat, and the man fled from the scene in another vehicle with Majors following him and at one point rear-ending him, according to the affidavit. Police stopped Majors near the intersection of North Parkway and Campbell Street and identified him as the suspect. Majors’ bond is set at $35,000.
