Jackson man accused of stealing lawnmower

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A Jackson man was in city court Wednesday on accusations of stealing a lawnmower. Nicholas Tyrone Pearson faces a theft charge after someone reported seeing a man take a push lawnmower from a home in the 800 block of Westwood Avenue, according to court papers. The caller told police the man was walking south with the mower on Russell Road. An officer saw Pearson pushing the mower at the intersection of Russell Road and Hollywood Drive, according to the affidavit. The officer contacted the homeowner who said the mower was his and that he had not given anyone permission to use it. Pearson was arrested and charged with theft under $500, the document states. His bond was set at $1,000.
