DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A man went before a judge Thursday after allegedly assaulting a woman and holder her against her will. Samuel Timothy Jones faces multiple charges after police say a verbal argument between him and a woman around midnight Thursday at a Summar Drive residence turned violent. According to court papers, Jones punched the woman in the face, restrained her to keep her from leaving and also took her phone to keep her from calling police. The woman tried to escape from around midnight until around 1:40 a.m. when police arrived, according to an affidavit. EMS advised the woman needed further treatment for facial injuries. Jones was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic assault, false imprisonment and preventing 911 calls, the affidavit states. A judge issued Jones a $7,500 bond.
