Brownsville PD names interim chief

BROWNSVILLE, Tenn. — A veteran Brownsville officer will take over when the current chief of police retires. Barry Diebold will take the reigns as police chief when the current chief, Chris Lea, retires. Lea’s last day in office is June 10. Diebold has served with the department since 1998, including 10 years as a school resource officer for Haywood High School. He also served as president of the Tennessee School Recourse Officer Association for three years. For the past seven years, Diebold has served as a Governor’s Highway Safety Office Network Coordinator in West Tennessee. Prior to working at Brownsville, Diebold worked for the Alamo Police Department where he served as K-9 officer and DARE instructor.
