TDOT names new director for West Tenn. region

NASHVILLE — Officials with the Tennessee Department of Transportation have appointed a new director/assistant chief engineer for TDOT’s Region 4. Jason Baker will assume the role May 1. He will provide management oversight of all regional operations and project development activities throughout the 21 counties that make up West Tennessee, according to a TDOT release. Baker has been with TDOT’s Region 4 for the past 16 years and most recently served as director of operations, the release states. He is a licensed engineer with a bachelor’s degree in physical science from Freed-Hardeman University, a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Tennessee Technical University and a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, according to the release. Baker will replace Chuck Rychen, who served as Region 4 director for the past 9 years, the release states. Rychen recently was appointed as assistant chief engineer of operations for the entire state and will assume his new role May 1.
