JACKSON, Tenn. – Liberty Tech’s baseball team like many other local schools get a fresh start this week. The Crusaders begin district tournament action on Thursday against North Side. “Now is when you can write your record on a piece of paper and throw it away,” said Liberty head coach Danny Giles. “It’s hard to beat a good team three times.” The Crusaders defeated the Indians by 21 combined runs during last week’s double-header. Coach Giles says those games mean nothing. “We’re starting brand new. We’re going to try to put 25 games behind us. We won some and lost some.” Giles added: “We’ve had some young guys step up. Some young guys that are starting to feel comfortable defensively. Some young pitchers that are throwing in the strike zone a little bit better. I like our chances.” Liberty Tech hosts North Side at 6:30 p.m. in round one.
