NORTH JACKSON — Heavy smoke filled the kitchen of a north Jackson home Friday morning. Twenty Madison County firefighters assisted in putting out the fire on Woodland Drive. No injuries were reported. Chief Eric Turner says it started in the kitchen, which sustained the most damage. He says about 20 percent of the structure was damaged. “Smoke was laying low, just ventilating around the windows and around the doors,” Chief Eric Turner said. “The homeowner got out and closed the door behind him, which helped a lot.” Turner says the fire was under control in 10 minutes. The exact cause is still under investigation.
