MARTIN, Tenn. — Martin Police continue to investigate an early Saturday morning aggravated kidnapping. Chief Don Teal said the suspect is 25-year-old Derrick Nicholson of Meridian, Mississippi. Around 3:30 a.m. officers responded to the area of Lindell St. when notified by dispatch that a Weakley County deputy was in pursuit of an individual who had just assaulted two subjects. Teal said Nicholson kicked in a door at a home on Raven St. and assaulted, then kidnapped a female acquaintance and her daughter at knife point. The two victims were able to escape Nicholson on Church St. and flag down a Weakley County Sergeant. The sergeant followed the vehicle to Summer St. where it crashed, hitting a residence on Summer St. When officers arrived Nicholson had fled on foot. A search of the area was unsuccessful and officers continue to search for Nicholson. Charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated domestic assault, aggravated burglary, theft of property, and vandalism are pending against Nicholson. Nicholson is a black male, approximately 5‘11″ tall, weighing approximately 200-210 lbs, bald headed, last seen wearing a t-shirt, blue jeans, and blue house shoes.
