Prisoner escapes, recaptured along I-40 in Benton County

BENTON COUNTY, Tenn. — A prisoner escape in Benton County ends Friday after a two-hour search. According to the sheriff several people were being transported from Texas to Georgia. The sheriff says one escaped around 3 p.m. during a stop at Exit 126 along Interstate 40. The sheriff said he and five others were being transported by a private prison company. Officers caught up with him not far from the exit. It is unclear if he is going to be charged with escape in Benton County.
