JACKSON, Tenn. — The Boys & Girls Club of Jackson held their Steak and Burger Dinner Thursday. The event took place at Jackson State Community College gym. Bill Courtney, founder of Classic American Hardwoods, was the featured speaker. Courtney, a Memphis native, founded the company in 2001. It now employs 120 people. Courtney also volunteers in Memphis inner-city schools. His efforts to turn around an under-performing football team at Manassas High School inspired the film “Undefeated,” which won the 2012 Academy Award for Best Feature Length Documentary.
