JACKSON, Tenn. — A change has been made to when residents in the Hub City can pay their property taxes each year. The Jackson City Council approved expanding the payment window to where citizens now can pay after the deadline in smaller amounts deemed fit by the city for the entire year rather than the traditional October to Dec. 31 deadline. City officials say they hope the change will lead to fewer property taxes going unpaid. The city recorder says this change comes with the understanding that there is still interest applied and whatever payments are left at the end of the year transfers to chancery court.
