MILAN, Tenn. — A man is facing an aggravated assault charge after police say he went inside a business and attacked the owner. Officers responded to Elliott’s Music Center on July 1 for a reported assault. The business owner told police a man, later identified as Aaron Whitley, had come into the store “talking crazy,” refused to leave and tried to go behind the counter, according to a report from the Milan Police Department. Whitley allegedly pushed the owner, causing him to lose his balance and fall, and then got on top of him and hit him, according to the report. “That’s when I went out the door and I flagged somebody down out there that was coming down the street in a car, and I told him I needed some help, and he stopped and come out and come in here, and he got him out of here for me,” store owner Oteen Elliott said. Dispatch gave officers a description of the suspect and told them he was walking on Williamson Street where Whitley was soon taken into custody. Whitley is charged with aggravated assault.
