Jackson General hospital welcomes new medical director

JACKSON, Tenn. — Jackson-Madison County General Hospital is welcoming a new medical director of palliative care. Dr. Kevin Wheatley is a graduate of James H. Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City. He is no stranger to the community, having completed his residency training with the University of Tennessee Family Medicine in Jackson. Palliative care is specialized medical care for people living with a serious illness, according to a release from West Tennessee Healthcare. “I am extremely pleased to have the opportunity to build on the foundation of the palliative care program that Dr. Clyde Smith has begun at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital,” Wheatley states in the release. “We plan to grow this program into different aspects of care including the Kirkland Cancer Center.”
