JACKSON, Tenn. — The Salvation Army and a local media company are teaming up to help make sure the elderly stay cool during this summer’s brutal heat. Thomas Media and the charity are collecting fans to distribute to elderly and others in fragile health. Salvation Army officials say they have given away 15 fans so far. Anyone can donate fans at the Salvation Army or at any Thomas Media location. Churches also are collecting money to give the Salvation Army to buy fans. This is the first year for the program, which started July 1 and will continue through the end of August.
