HUNTINGDON, Tenn. — Fire officials are investigating a weekend blaze that destroyed a house and had neighbors reporting explosions. Crews responded to a 911 call about the fire on Mays Avenue just after 7 p.m. Saturday, according to the Huntingdon Fire Department. Officials say other callers reported hearing explosions and that the home was fully engulfed when crews arrived. Once the flames were under control, firefighters could see that bricks appeared to have been blown off the north side of the home and blackened by either fire or an explosion, according to the department. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The owner of the house told firefighters he was mowing his front lawn when he noticed smoke coming from the back of the house but had no idea what caused the fire.
