JACKSON, Tenn. — A Jackson police officer injured Feb. 22 in a brutal assault is back on the job. Sgt. Mike Thomas returned to work late last week, according to the Jackson Police Department. “Glad to be back with such a caliber of people that I have the fortune to work with here,” Thomas said. This will be Thomas’ first full week back on duty since the attack. Thomas was taking a break at a north Jackson convenience store when a man blindsided him, knocking him to the ground and then beating and kicking him repeatedly, according to police.
