Kids learn life lessons in Summer Enrichment Program

McKENZIE, Tenn. — A summer program in Carroll County is investing in children’s futures by sharing life skills not taught in school. Volunteers and several churches have been working together for the past five weeks for the Summer Enrichment Program, passing on skills including cooking, sewing, carpentry, gardening, fishing, refinishing furniture, art and also swimming classes. Speakers from various professions also participated. “How they should present themselves and how they should dress and just a variety of things that may not get taught in the public school system,” said the Rev. Terry Fuller, event coordinator with the program. The programs also offered tennis and archery lessons.
