Union City man arrested after alleged knife threat

UNION CITY, Tenn. — An alleged bar fight early Sunday led to a man being arrested on accusations of making threats with a knife. Richard Turnbow was arrested after police witnessed an altercation in the parking lot of Snack Shop bar, according to a report from the Union City Police Department. Police say they saw a man pushing Turnbow back inside the business and that one of the officers had dealt with Turnbow 30 minutes earlier behind another bar. The officers arrested Turnbow and were approached by several people who told them Turnbow had a knife and had just pulled it on someone before police arrived, according to the report. Officers then spoke with a man who told them he had tried to pull Turnbow away from a fight when Turnbow pulled a knife on him and pointed it at his throat, the report states. He told police Turnbow then threw the knife into a trash can. Police say they found a black folding knife in a garbage can inside the bar. Turnbow is charged with aggravated assault.
