Savannah police make arrest in connection with meth bust

SAVANNAH, Tenn. — Savannah police have made an arrest in connection with a meth bust. According to Savannah Police Chief Gary Will Jr., Michael Johnston, 34, of Savannah was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and initiating a meth lab. Officers received a tip of a possible meth lab at a location in the 200 block of Geans Street. While searching the house, they also found meth-making materials where Johnston allegedly had been making meth at that location for a week, according to Will. Investigators believe only two batches of meth were made. The scene was investigated and rendered safe by the Savannah Police Department with the assistance of the McNairy County Sheriff’s Office, Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, the Drug Task Force out of Memphis and Hardin County Animal Control. Johnston was arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule III drug with intent to deliver, reckless endangerment, child endangerment, animal neglect/endangerment, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while suspended, according to Savannah police.
