JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson YMCA fitness center will close at the end of the month, according to a YMCA release. The facility, located at 1515 Campbell Street, will close Aug. 31. The Childcare Center will continue to provide childcare services, according to the release. The closure comes as the board of directors is restructuring the operations of the Jackson YMCA to make best use of limited resources and allocate those resources to childcare and youth programs, the release states. The board is looking at opportunities to reach more families in need of childcare and expand the current Three-Star childcare program through partnerships, according to the release. “This was not an easy decision,” Katie Pace, executive director of Jackson Downtown Development Corporation, states in the release. “The Board has been considering partnerships to keep the branch open, but unfortunately those collaborations could not provide a sustainable model. We feel this decision is the way to move forward and keep the YMCA alive in Jackson, Tenn.”
