Man accused of gun, drug possession outside Jackson club

JACKSON, Tenn. — A man appeared Tuesday in city court on numerous charges after police say they found him in possession of a stolen handgun and drugs outside a Jackson nightclub. Caricus Hendrix was the driver of a vehicle that was blocking traffic Saturday in the parking lot of a nightclub located on Heritage Square, according to an affidavit. Police say they smelled alcohol and that Hendrix admitted to having a drink in the vehicle. Officers then found Hendrix’s license was revoked, and he told them he was on federal probation, according to the affidavit. Police recovered a stolen 9 mm handgun from the vehicle along with two small bags of marijuana and about 3.3 grams of “Molly” from his pockets, the document states. Hendrix is charged with possession of a firearm in commission of a dangerous felony, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of stolen property, drug counts with intent and open container. He is being held in lieu of a $200,000 bond.
