Police say domestic assault leaves woman covered in bleach

JACKSON, Tenn. — A man is facing a domestic assault charge after police say he attacked his wife and knocked her into a pan of bleach. Joe Witherspoon appeared Thursday in city court for a simple domestic assault charge stemming from the Wednesday incident, according to an affidavit. Police say his wife told them she and Witherspoon had been arguing by phone all day and that the argument turned violent when she later got home. The woman told police Witherspoon attacked her, hitting her in the head and face, the document states. He then allegedly knocked her into a pan of bleach, and police say when they arrived her clothes looked bleached front and back, according to the affidavit. Witherspoon’s bond is set at $3,000.
