JACKSON, Tenn. — A Jackson lawyer was found guilty of tampering with evidence during trial Thursday in connection with the death of her daughter-in-law. According to court records, after the death of Brittany Christie inside a west Jackson motel room in December 2013, John Christie’s mother, Edythe Christie, went through his phone and deleted text messages and pictures. John Christie, who has pleaded not guilty to charges of second-degree murder, will go to trial in September. Edythe Christie’s sentencing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Oct. 1.
