Madison Co. Sheriff’s Office awarded for traffic safety

NASHVILLE — Tennessee Department of Transportation officials and the Governor’s Highway Safety Office on Friday announced winners of the 11th annual Law Enforcement Challenge. The yearly challenge is designed to recognize the state’s best efforts for traffic safety. As part of their prize, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office won a fully equipped police vehicle. The Sewanee Police Department and the Hickman County Sheriff’s Office also were recognized with new squad cars. Over the last decade, the number of traffic fatalities in Tennessee has been reduced by more than a third.
