Man faces gun, drug charges after search of residence

JACKSON, Tenn. — A man was in city court Tuesday on multiple charges stemming from a recent search of a Jackson residence. DeAndre Askew was detained Friday as officers with the Street Crimes Unit of the Jackson Police Department executed a search warrant at his Washington Douglas Circle residence, according to an affidavit. During the search, officers recovered 5.8 grams of crack cocaine, two handguns, 337 grams of marijuana and $1,714 in cash, the document states. An investigation revealed the items belonged to Askew, according to police. Askew is charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to resale, possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, possession of marijuana with intent to resale and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond is set at $75,000.
